How do I make an order?
The first step is to give us a call, send an email to us at info@thehempabode.com or fill out our contact form. From there, we will discuss the kit model(s) you have in mind, explore customization options, make color and finish selections, discuss desired timelines, and answer any other preliminary questions you may have.
After initial correspondence and conversations, The Hemp Abode will prepare a formal cost proposal with a detailed breakdown of pricing for the selected kit model along with costs for any additional items.
To secure a spot in our production schedule, there is an upfront payment due for the Plan Set and Permitting Package. The cost for this package is $8,500.
Upon receipt of the Plan Set and Permitting Package Payment, The Hemp Abode will send the Plans Package within 7-14 days and will begin the process of securing the building permit.
What is the payment schedule?
Pre-Fabrication Payment: There is an initial 50% upfront payment due before fabrication of your kit begins. Fabrication begins within 45 days after receipt of this payment.
Post-Fabrication Payment: 45% of the total price is due immediately after fabrication of your kit is complete. This payment is due prior to the shipment of the kit materials.
5% Balance Payment: A 5% balance payment is due after assembly of the kit is complete or within 30 days after the kit is shipped to your site.
Does The Hemp Abode offer financing?
Yes, The Hemp Abode offers financing through Acorn Finance. More information coming soon.
How long does fabrication of my Hemp Abode home take?
Fabrication lead time for your kit is between 2-3 months after receipt of the initial payment. This timeframe is dependent upon the production schedule at the time of order. The fabrication lead time begins within 45 days after receipt of the initial payment.
Do I need a building permit? If so, how long does it take to obtain one?
Depending on your local regulations and intended use, you may or may not need a building permit. In some jurisdictions, the type of foundation that is used will determine whether a building permit is needed. The Hemp Abode recommends that customers check their local building permitting regulations to determine whether a building permit is required. The Hemp Abode offers free consulting services to assist in making these determinations. If you plan on building with a permit or if one is required in your jurisdiction, the timeframe for obtaining a building permit is typically within 2-3 months after application for the permit is submitted.
Will The Hemp Abode assist with obtaining a building permit and contractors for the foundation, plumbing, septic, and electric?
Yes, assistance with these elements of the build is included in the Plan Set and Permitting Package. The Hemp Abode will conduct an onsite survey of your land and will submit all required permitting documents to your local jurisdiction. In addition to assisting with obtaining a building permit, The Hemp Abode will secure contractors for the foundation, septic (if required), plumbing, and electrical work. The Hemp Abode, at the customer’s direction, will handle correspondence with the local jurisdiction, and with all required third party contractors. All costs for the building permit and services provided by third parties are borne by the customer and are not included in the customer’s contracted price with The Hemp Abode.
Will I need to hire an architect and/or engineer?
No, The Hemp Abode’s Plan Set and Permitting Package includes all building plan requirements including an engineered foundation plan for permitting in your local jurisdiction. So, you won't have to hire an outside architect or engineer. It's all done for you.
However, every piece of land is different. For example, if you are building on the side of a steep slope or mountain, and depending on the surface type of your land, some additional engineering costs may be incurred. The Hemp Abode is happy to assist with these determinations.
The base cost for the required Plan Set and Permitting Package is $8,500. Additional costs may be incurred depending on your local jurisdiction’s requirements and foundation type.
Does The Hemp Abode offer assembly services?
Yes, The Hemp Abode offers a White Glove Assembly Service within a 200-mile radius of Nevada City, CA. This service includes a team of 2-4 people who unload, stage, and assemble your kit. For customers outside of the 200-mile radius, The Hemp Abode will assist the customer in obtaining a subcontractor to assist with the assembly. All costs for assembly, whether completed by The Hemp Abode’s White Glove Assembly team or third-party subcontractor are priced separately and are additional to the listed kit prices. Detailed prices for the White Glove Assembly will be provided on the formal cost proposal.
Can I assemble the kit on my own and how long does a kit take to assemble?
Yes, The Hemp Abode kits are designed and fabricated to be assembled as a DIY build. 2-4 people with basic skills can assemble a kit within 7-10 days. No heavy machinery or special equipment is required to assemble your kit. Each kit comes with a detailed plan set and assembly instructions, ensuring an easeful and straightforward assembly. The Hemp Abode is available for the duration of the assembly process to answer questions and provide guidance as assembly progresses.
What about shipping?
Shipping is included in the listed kit price. The Hemp Abode ships nationwide, within the continental United States. Extra charges apply for shipping outside the continental United States.
