Hempitecture – HempWool® & PlantPanel™ Systems
The Hemp Abode partners with Hempitecture to integrate HempWool® insulation and PlantPanel™ rigid systems into our hemp wall, roof, and ceiling assemblies. Made from rapidly renewable, carbon-sequestering hemp fiber, these materials provide a high-performance, non-toxic alternative to conventional insulation, offering reliable thermal performance (~R-3.7 per inch), dimensional stability, zero-formaldehyde, and zero-VOC composition. Through a controlled, in-facility application process, these components are further enhanced with proprietary, all-natural, non-toxic mineral-based fire-retardant treatments, enabling the overall wall assembly to achieve Class A fire-rated performance while maintaining breathable, durable, and energy-efficient building assemblies that support healthier indoor environments and low-embodied-carbon construction.
Boardwurks Biocomposites – CannaGRASS™ Carbon-Smart Panels
The Hemp Abode partners with Boardwurks Biocomposites to integrate CannaGRASS™ hemp composite panels into our hemp wall and ceiling assemblies. Manufactured from a proprietary blend of industrial hemp fiber and Miscanthus giganteus, these panels utilize a natural, high-performance, non-toxic, formaldehyde-free binder to deliver exceptional strength, durability, and indoor air quality. With superior internal bond strength, excellent screw-holding capability, and reduced thickness swelling compared to OSB and plywood, CannaGRASS™ provides a high-performance, carbon-smart sheathing substrate aligned with our commitment to healthy, all natural, sustainable, and low-embodied-carbon building systems.
Mineral Coating System | The Hemp Abode
The Hemp Abode has developed a proprietary interior and exterior mineral coating system engineered specifically for high-performance hemp-based wall assemblies. This system combines advanced potassium silicate paints with a refined blend of mineral aggregates—including marble dust, diatomaceous earth, and cementitious binders—to create a fully breathable, vapor-permeable finish that integrates seamlessly with biogenic substrates. Through a process of silicification (mineral petrification), the coating chemically bonds into the hemp panel substrate, forming a unified mineral surface rather than a surface-applied film. Reinforced with mineral fibers and optimized through controlled particle gradation, the system delivers a durable, crack-resistant finish with excellent UV stability and long-term weathering performance. Designed to support Class A fire-rated wall assemblies, and applied in a controlled fabrication environment, this system delivers a refined plaster like surface while maintaining a healthy, non-toxic building envelope aligned with next-generation sustainable construction practices.
